Burlington's Best Breakfast Spots
From flaky croissants to hearty farm breakfasts, these are the places worth waking up for in Vermont's largest city.
Burlington may be Vermont's biggest city, but breakfast here still feels like a small-town affair. These are the spots where locals start their day.
Mirabelles Cafe & Bakery
If you're after pastries, this is your place. The croissants are legitimately great — flaky, buttery, not too big. Get there early; the good stuff sells out.
Penny Cluse Cafe
The line out the door on weekend mornings tells you everything. Gingerbread pancakes, huevos rancheros, solid coffee. Worth the wait.
August First
A combination bakery and breakfast spot downtown. The breakfast sandwiches are reliable, and they do excellent bread.
What to Know
- Weekend brunch means lines at popular spots. Weekday mornings are easier.
- Most places close by 2pm or 3pm. This is breakfast town, not all-day cafe culture.
- Cash is still appreciated at some spots, but cards work everywhere now.
